Well it’s that time of year… the kid’s out trick-or-treating and I’m listening to adult Halloween music (a little Depeche Mode: Violator and a selection of Skinny Puppy or Manufacture will do).
On the way home tonight, I took these photos of the halloween decor at Harner Farm.
Their stuff is very realistic and has always creeped me out, and this year is no exception. You drive by on College Ave and catch this out of the corner of your eye and it just gives you chills. Worse, the wind makes them really appear to be dancing in the pumpkin field.
The headless guy below was supposed to contain a pumpkin head but it kept falling off (not quite as scary). They have a photo of the pumpkin head with pumpkin intact on their website. Note also the cloaked figure in the background.
Well, my daughter’s back with her candy and it’s time to sit down and watch Garfield’s Halloween Adventure (the original might cost you $22 used on VHS but don’t be fooled, you can get it on a DVD collection for half the price). Twenty years ago tonight I was the same age as my daughter, watching the same show on TV. I’ve seen it so many times, I can remember every line.
“Halloween’s my middle name! Gar-halloween-field.”
