My Own Thanksgiving

Today’s Thanksgiving will be my first alone. You know what though? I’m totally OK with that. A couple people invited me over to their family Thanksgiving Dinner but I really just want to relax.

I can do what I want, eat what I want, watch what TV I want, read what magazines I want, and listen to what music I want. This Thanksgiving, I declare my independence. It’s going to be an epic and very relaxing four-day weekend.

Am I going to miss my ex-mother-in-law’s cooking and the family banter? You’d better believe it. But I have assembled a tasty selection of “single guy” components that will make a good meal:

After that, I’m snuggling up with the cat, a movie and some paper magazines (which I only read on Holidays). To me, this is the most important part of the Holiday: Relaxing.

If you’ve read this blog since the beginning then you might not think that I have much to be thankful for, but I do. Here’s a list of people I’d like to thank on this special day:

– My ex-wife and her stepdaughter gave me 11 wonderful years of their lives.

– My Mom, who believed in me and spent countless hours on the phone in past months.

– My Dad, R.I.P., who inspired me to have hobbies and never have idle time.

– The rest of my Family and Friends who helped me get through these hard times.

– AccuWeather, who still provides me with an enjoyable, stable job.

– My cat Star, for being with me longer than anyone else, and preventing loneliness.

– Wells Fargo for keeping me in my house (pending paperwork).

– Online Dating (in advance) – I’ll never make it in the offline world.

– Myself, for getting healthy and scoring great on BP/Cholestorol/Weight Loss lately.
