Two years and three months after we began our Coronavirus Quarantine,* I have finally tested positive for the virus. Presumably, it’s the Omicron 22B variant, which is predominant in the United Kingdom, because that’s where my wife and daughter have been for the last three weeks (they also tested positive this weekend). Fortunately, Omicron is not as deadly as Delta and the original strain, and cases are typically mild, especially if you’re vaccinated, which we are.
*We let up on the quarantine in Spring of 2021, starting to eat at restaurants again and vacationing in the Summer, and this Summer the girls had stopped wearing masks (the airline restrictions to wear masks & test dropped JUST before they left for the U.K. in early June). But for the most part I have not stopped wearing a mask, and I’ve only eaten in a restaurant 3 or 4 times since we started quarantining.
We even beat Dr. Fauci, but only by a week. The CDC recommends however that we go back into quarantine for at least a week, so we’re going to stay home for a while.
